Jezera is a small and charming fishing village on the island of Murter, known as one of the starting points for sailing in the Kornati National Park. The village got its name, which means "Lakes," from the small lakes that form during autumn and winter due to rainwater collecting in karst depressions. This natural feature likely attracted the first inhabitants in the early 13th century. Jezera is located on the southeastern side of Murter, situated in a horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by gentle hills. Its sheltered position protects it from strong winds, making the bay ideal for harboring and anchoring boats.

The people of Jezera have a long history of engaging in viticulture, olive growing, fruit farming, fishing, and maritime activities. In the 18th century, although Jezera was the smallest settlement on the island, it had the largest fleet. Their boats were used for fishing and transporting stone from the local quarry to cities like Šibenik and Zadar. The residents were also involved in stonemasonry.
Today, Jezera is celebrated not only for its natural beauty and environment but also for its rich cultural heritage. The Croatian Music Union has recognized it for the quality of its entertainment and music programs, making it a delightful and entertaining destination for visitors.
