Zadar region

Home Nautical Destinations Zadar region

Sometimes overlooked as a holiday destination in favour of the more famous resorts and islands further along the coast, the Zadar region has much to offer to its visitors. The area around the coastal towns of Zadar and Biograd are surrounded by numerous islands, two national parks and one nature park.

The city of Zadar is unique for its thousand-year-old urban existence which makes it one of the oldest cities in Croatia. This is a city filled with cultural and historical heritage that can be seen just by walking through the city. Zadar is not too crowded; it’s not overrun with tourists and its two unique attractions – the sound-and-light spectacle of the Sea Organ and the Sun Salutation – need to be seen and heard to be believed.

When you are navigating through the Zadar archipelago visit the heart-shaped island of Galešnjak and the beautiful Telašćica Bay nature park with the stunning cliffs that are just a short walk away. While you are there, visit some other coves on Dugi otok and don’t skip the charming fisherman town of Sali. Take a swim in the sandy lagoons around Nin, discover heavenly coves of Pag Island and Dugi otok (Long Island), stop in the beautiful harbours of Zadar and Nin and by all means rest in the exceptional marinas of Biograd and Sukošan!

Biograd is also the perfect starting point for both the Zadar and the Šibenik archipelago and is is actually on the doorstep of the Kornati national park. Biograd is a well-known sailing centre that will delight all the regatta fans with the fact that there are more than 40 domestic and international regattas in all classes being organized in the Biograd area each year.
